Suspect who claims he left gun at CBC campus arrested
PASCO, Wash. - A man has been arrested at Columbia Basin College after he pulled a fire alarm and said he had a gun on campus during a trivia event.
A statement from CBC said a man who appeared to be intoxicated pulled a fire alarm Thursday evening in the CBC HUB.
Pasco police responded to a call from security and arrested the man, identified as Jose Amezola, for pulling the fire alarm.
Amezola admitted to police to having a gun near the CBC flagpole at the Veterans Monument outside the HUB where the trivia event was taking place.
Police then found and secured the gun, according to reports.
The suspect was arrested on assault and burglary charges and was taken to Franklin County Jail. Police issued a no-trespass order against Amezola for the CBC campus.
School officials are acknowledging the security officers at CBC and other employees for reacting in a timely manner and securing the situation until Pasco police arrived.
