Man wanted after threatening people in a home

WEST RICHLAND POLICE NEWS RELEASE -- On July 15, 2014 - 0929 West Richland Police responded to a report of an assault occurring at a residence in the 4400 Block of Chelan Drive. The reporting party stated the suspect, Christian B. Chavez (27 yoa), had displayed a knife and threatened to kill them.

Officers secured the scene and determined that Chavez had fled. Witnesses reported that Chavez was hiding in a residence approximately one block away on S. 42nd. Officers secured the area and attempted contact with Chavez by phone. Numerous attempts to contact Chavez were made. It was believed at the time that Chavez was in a residence on 42nd and police identified the residence in question.

After an assessment of the potential risk to officers and neighbors it was determined that SWAT deployment was warranted. The Tri City Regional SWAT team responded. After approximately two hours of intermittent phone contact with Chavez and his failure to identify his location for police to make contact, the SWAT team entered the residence and conducted a search. Christian B. Chavez was not located.

No damage was cause to the residence and no injuries resulted during the incident.

Crime Stoppers reports Chavez is also known as Bravo Chavez and Goblen. He's 5'7", 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his back between shoulder blades and on his left hand between his thumb and finger.

Chavez was wanted for failing to appear for a show cause hearing resulting from his original charge of Theft in the 1st degree.
