PASCO, Wash. --An added presence in downtown Pasco is a comfort to business owners. An officer is now assigned to the mini station on 3rd and Lewis. They had this building occupied years ago, and got the money to bring an officer back last November. Having this presence allows Pasco police to make consistent contact with downtown merchants. The director of the Pasco Specialty Kitchen says, "They keep a handle on the panhandling, Open containers. There is more of a presence, either riding their bikes or walking. Businesses do feel better." The city would consider having the officer in the main department building, but there is just not enough space.
