More firefighters = better chance of survival in West Richland

WEST RICHLAND, Wash. -- If you have an emergency in West Richland, help could respond much faster.

A fire station on Gross Cup Road is now staffed with paid firefighters.

In the past, Benton District Four has used only volunteers at that location.

Adding paid firefighters could drop emergency response times by a whopping eight minutes.

Benton District Four says it will mix paid firefighters with volunteers, so the main station will still have a full staff.
