Murder charge dropped against Richard Aguirre
SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. -- Murder charges against Richard J. Aguirre out of Spokane County have been dismissed.
Court papers filed on Tuesday show the Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney's office asking for a dismissal of 1st Degree Murder charges.
The prosecuting attorney's office tells Action News that the case was dismissed due to a lack of evidence.
We tried to reach Aguirre's attorney, John Henry Browne, but he was unavailable for comment at this time.
Aguirre was charged with the 1986 cold case murder of a Spokane County woman.
Earlier this year, a jury found Aguirre not guilty of sexual assault in Franklin County.
Aguirre was a Pasco Police officer for several years before legal trouble caused him to resign.
