Nanny pleads not guilty to killing child
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- Jocelyn M Bellon, 29, pleaded not guilty Thursday morning to a charge of first degree manslaughter in the death of a 2 year-old boy in 2016.
Bellon is expected back in court for a hearing on July 13th. Her trial is expected to begin on August 3rd.
In July 2016, Richland Police say Bellon called 911 after a child she was caring for, David Schreiber, stopped breathing.
Bellon told authorities that Schreiber started choking during his meal, and she tried to administer CPR.
Medics rushed the boy to the hospital where he later died.
Doctors say they found injuries to be caused by 'non-accidental trauma.'
An autopsy on Schreiber showed the boy died from blunt force head trauma.
Police say they interviewed Bellon on multiple occasions.
According to court documents, Bellon changed her story and told police Schreiber fell out of his high chair, causing the injuries.
