New police cruisers for Prosser PD

PROSSER - It's a case of "out with the old, in with the new"... And it could help police respond to your emergency faster. Prosser police are will soon be taking delivery of six brand new police cruisers.

And it's long overdue.

The department's current fleet is more than a decade old--- and has often suffered from wiring problems. It's gotten so bad that police have been left stranded because their cruisers have died.

"Mainly the reliable car does build morale amongst the police officers and also I believe the public is going to look at it in a favorable sense because it also adds to their public safety," said Prosser Police Chief John Markus.

The new cruisers will cost $300,000.The first new car should enter the fleet by this spring.
