New schools to impact Kennewick elementary school boundaries
KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick school leaders are asking the community for feedback on boundary changes for schools.
The Kennewick School District (KSD) will hold four meetings to discuss proposed boundary options that would primarily affect seven elementary schools to accommodate two new schools opening in the district.
A KSD press release said proposed school boundary changes would take effect during the 2018-19 school year as the new schools are set to open August 2018.
The school board worked with the administration to come up with boundary options, which are available for review here.
Schools that will be impacted by boundary changes are: Cottonwood, Edison, Hawthorne, Lincoln, Ridge View, Sunset View and Vista elementary schools.
The following meetings will be held at 7 p.m. to give residents an opportunity to offer feedback and ask questions.
- October 3 – Ridge View Elementary
- October 10 – Cottonwood Elementary
- October 12 – Hawthorne Elementary
- October 16 – Lincoln Elementary
The board hopes to move forward with a plan at a November 8 meeting, according to KSD leaders.
Students who live outside of a school’s boundaries may apply for in-district transfer until January 26.
