Pasco man shot when opening the door, suspect in custody

PASCO POLICE NEWS RELEASE -- Pasco Police responded to reports of a man shot in the 200 Block of N. Oregon Street last night. Officers immediately arrived on the scene an encountered an individual in the yard of the complex. He was taken into custody by police when he was observed concealing and kneeling next to a shotgun.

Officers contacted a 41 year old Pasco man whom was suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. During the course of the investigation police determined that the victim opened the door of his apartment after a knock at the door occurred. When he opened the door he was immediately shot for unknown reasons. The victim was transported from the scene to an area hospital for treatment and is in serious condition.

In custody this morning for the shooting-assault is Juan Carlos Sarabia-Aranda, 28 years of age of Burbank, Wash. He is alleged to have shot the victim.

Detectives at this hour continue the investigation and are attempting to determine a motive for the shooting.
