Pasco Police looking for driver in Sunday Train vs. Car collision
PASCO, Wash. — Police officials said a drunk driver is lucky to be alive after his car was hit by a train in Pasco early Sunday morning.
The Pasco Police Department told Action News an intoxicated man was driving east on Columbia St. near 1st Ave. when he missed the curve in the road.
His car made it over the steep embankment but got stuck in the rocks next to the train tracks.
Sergio Monico was leaving a nearby club when he saw the collision,
"I saw the train hitting the car, and I was like 'Oh!'. You're not really used to seeing that kind of stuff."
Monico said the driver was the only one in the car when it was hit; he said he's surprised the man was alive,
"I saw somebody opening the door, and I was like ... was there somebody in there?'"
Moninco told Action News the driver of the car only sustained a cut to his nose, but the car he drove wasn't so lucky.
The driver took off before police arrived but they'd still like to talk to him.
