Pasco Police say drive-by shooting was gang-related

PASCO POLICE NEWS RELEASE -- Pasco Police responded to a reported drive by shooting last night in the 800 Block of North Cedar Street in Pasco. Police were notified of the shooting incident at approximately 10:00 PM last night.

When officer arrived at the corner of East Parkview and Cedar streets a vehicle was observed in the middle of the street with obvious damage to the vehicles glass. A seventeen year old (female) of Pasco had been shot, while inside the vehicle, as it traveled down the street. The female victim was injured from flying glass and also had a gunshot wound to the head. The injury was not life-threatening and she was transported to an area hospital for treatment. No one else was injured during the shooting.

During the course of the investigation it was learned that the female victim along with others were traveling on Cedar Street in a vehicle. When gold colored Honda was seen driving erratically up onto the victim vehicle. It was reported that the Honda had up to six younger males inside as it passed the victim vehicle. Multiple gunshots were fired from the Honda as it passed. The vehicle was last seen traveling westbound out of the neighborhood.

Police located the suspect vehicle a short time later crashed at the intersection of Parkview Blvd and Beech. The vehicle was empty and occupants had fled on foot from the scene of the crash. An extensive search for suspects was conducted but police were not able to locate any of the occupants. The vehicle has been seized and detectives are conducting a search of the vehicle for evidence today.

At this time investigators believe they incident to be gang-related and they are working on identifying suspects in the shooting incident. No arrests have been made at this hour.
