Police arrest man in baseball bat assault of two women
HERMISTON, Ore. - Two women are recovering from injuries after an argument led to assault with a baseball bat.
Hermiston police responded to a report of two injured women at the 600 block of SE 7th Street around 10:29 p.m., August 7.
Reports said the resident, Nicolas Pando, 38, attacked his former spouse, 37, and her friend, 34, with his hands and a baseball bat while exchanging a 4-year-old child.
The women drove away from the home and Pando went inside his house where he refused to speak with arriving officers.
Police waited approximately four hours before Pando left the house and arrested him on misdemeanor, assault, strangulation, menacing and criminal mischief charges.
Officers booked him into the county jail in Pendleton.
Medics treated both women for injuries, including cuts and bruises to the face.
The four-year-old was not injured in the incident, police said.
Reports said the vehicle the women drove sustained $2,000 of damage in the fight.
