Police: Homeowner ends car scavenge while armed with a gun
KENNEWICK, Wash. - Police are investigating an attempted car prowl that was stopped when the owner approached him with a gun.
Kennewick police (KPD) said a homeowner at the 3200 block of West 46th Avenue was armed with a handgun when they ordered a man inside their car to stop.
The man obeyed the homeowner's orders. Reports said the man was armed with a knife and a taser in the incident.
Police said the homeowner had also called 9-1-1 after they noticed the man inside their vehicle.
Police arrested and identified the car-scavenger as 23-year-old Michael Magula.
KPD detectives found items in Magula's backpack that belonged to the homeowner. Reports indicate they also found more valuable items that were possibly taken from inside other vehicles.
Police said suspicious pills were also found in his possession.
KPD officers booked Magula into Benton County Jail on a 72-hour investigative hold, according to reports.
