Man killed in drive-by shooting, Kennewick police search for suspect

One man shot, police investigate drive-by shooting reports

KENNEWICK, Wash. - One man is shot in an alleged drive-by shooting.

Police said they found 39-year-old Martin Ibanez, of Pasco wounded in a driveway at the 1500 block of W 7th Place after neighbors said they heard four or five rapid gunshots in the area.

The shooting suspect is described as a Hispanic man, with a thin build and in his 20's. He is believed to be armed with a handgun and was last seen leaving the area in a white, or cream colored sedan type vehicle.

Police said several reports came in around 1:13 p.m. Monday after the incident took place.

Medics rushed the victim to Trios Health where he died later that day.

Trios Health’s Emergency Department went on lockdown for nearly an hour on account of the victim's arrival.

Kennewick police are at the hospital and Trios has added additional security to ensure safety, according to an update from Trios.

Officials investigated at S. Rainier Street and W. 7th Place. A section of W. 7th Place was closed to traffic while police worked to uncover more information.

The Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team also assisted in crime scene processing around 5 p.m., Monday through 1 a.m., Tuesday.

Police continue to investigate as they do not know the identity of the suspect.
