Portland-area deputies looking for 'Nicorette Bandit'
PORTLAND, Ore. - Sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help identifying a thief who they say has stolen more than $1,000 worth of nicotine gum from a Southeast Portland Walgreens store.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office dubbed the man the "Nicorette Bandit." Deputies said he stole gum from a Walgreens at Southeast 82nd Avenue and Johnson Creek Boulevard in two separate incidents.
The most recent theft occurred on Sunday, April 27. Deputies said the man filled a shopping basket with Nicorette gum and ran out of the store. In surveillance images released by the sheriff's office, the man is seen wearing dark clothes and a distinctive pair of glasses.
Deputies believe the same man stole nicotine gum from the store last year.
The suspect is described as a white man who is 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall and weighs 150 pounds.
Anyone with information about the man is asked to call the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office tip line at 503-723-4949.
The sheriff's office said in a news release that while it applauds efforts to quit smoking, it urges the public to do so in a lawful manner.
