Preparing for the worst at Tri-Cities Airport

PASCO, Wash. -- Emergency responders came together to simulate a disaster at the Tri-Cities airport.

They came up with worst-case scenarios and then figured out how to respond.

The drill is important because passenger numbers at the airport will likely double in the next decade -- and emergency workers need to be prepared to save lives.

One of the things discussed today was better communication between emergency workers and pilots.

As we've reported before, the airport is setting up a radio line that will help Pasco fire talk directly to pilots.
