Psychologist suspended after prostitute reportedly steals laptop
GIG HARBOR, Wash. -- A Gig Harbor psychologist has been suspended after a prostitute stole his laptop, exposing the medical information of more than 650 Department of Social and Health Services clients, according to the Washington State Department of Health.
According to the Department of Health, Sunil Kakar kept unprotected medical information on his personal laptop, which was stolen by a prostitute.
In addition, Kakar failed to notify the Department of Social and Health Services about the stolen laptop until five days later and misrepresented the number of clients it affected, according to the Department of Health.
The Department of Health and the Board of Psychology charged Kakar with not protecting sensitive client information and suspended his license. He cannot practice until the charges are resolved.
