Renumbered fire trucks could save lives

TRI-CITIES, Wash. -- A change to local fire departments could help rescuers get to your emergency faster.

KEPR learned every single fire truck in the Tri-Cities was recently renumbered.

Up until now, each department shared the same numbering system.

It often led to confusion because the same truck number would be radioed by dispatchers, and firefighters wouldn't know if they were being contacted.

Firefighters tell us the changes will be the most helpful during wildfire season.

Every fire truck in the Tri-Cities now has a unique number.
