Revenue spikes for some smoke shops

TRI-CITIES - Three months after weed was legalized here in Washington, Action News is checking up on revenues of local smoke shops.

Not surprisingly, some smoke shops are seeing a spike in sales. In fact, one business owner tells us sales have increased by 30 percent.

Shops say some of their customers are older folks--- who want to learn about the new law. Businesses tell us it could ultimately lead to more tourism to our area.

"Everyone from hotel tours to restaurant tours -- all those people who are in no way involved with liquor control board issues, but they understand that there's an opportunity for tremendous revenue," said Pinstripe Empire LLC owner Clay Looney.

We also learned some local growers are also preparing to grow and sell marijuana -- if it eventually becomes legal to do so.
