Richland superintendent on paid leave

RICHLAND, Wash. - The investigation into an alleged affair between Richland's Superintendent and another staff member continues.

Now KEPR has learned Jim Busey is on paid leave.

An independent team is looking into what some consider inappropriate behavior between Jim Busey and another district employee.

The school board decided to move forward with temporarily dismissing Busey and tells us its standard protocol in this type of situation.

School board president Rick Jansens said, "It's to protect the rights of the employee as well as allow a thorough investigation. We would like to have this resolved as quickly as possible with all due diligence."

So far nothing criminal has been discovered.
