Richland teens fasting for 30 hours

RICHLAND, WA. - Teens at a local Richland church are looking to give back to the communtiy, by starving themselves for 30 hours.

It's part of a nation wide weekend event. The fast gives people a taste of how many go hungry everyday. The teens from Richland church of the Nazarene are also sleeping in a cardboard box. The kids plan to raise awareness by collecting food donations and hosting a car wash.

"It means so much to me, when you think about helping a kid from dying, saving a life is just incredible," said second year participant Jack Tycksen.

Staff tell KEPR that for every 30 dollars raised one child is fed and cared for an entire month.
