Richland police investigate alleged overnight stabbing

RICHLAND, Wash. - Police in Richland are investigating a reported stabbing.

UPDATE I Police closed off the 1700 block of Jadwin for a suspect search in an apartment complex around 1:10 p.m. Monday. Officials said a suspect has been arrested and the area was reopened.

Police booked the suspect into Benton County Jail on a 72-hour hold for assault charges, according to officials.

Reports said the Richland Police Department (RPD) responded to a 28-year-old Richland resident who reported being assaulted overnight, early Monday at the 1700 block of Longfitt Drive.

The victim said the stabbing occurred in the midst of a fight over property, according to RPD officials.

A woman walking her dog in the neighborhood found the victim around 6:45 a.m. Monday.

Authorities said medics took the victim to Kadlec Medical Center to get treatment and a CT scan.

Detectives with RPD are investigating the incident.
