Safety dividers turn dangerous

RICHLAND, Wash. - The intersection in front of WinCo tends to be one of the more dangerous spots in Richland. Last year, the city took steps to make it safer, but that didn't last long.

The city added dividers that came up out of the ground to keep people in their lane when turning onto Columbia Point Drive, but they've been run over so many times that all that's left are the springs in the ground. This causes a new danger to cars cutting too quickly and running them over.

"I don't think that it's working. It's just, I think most people understand that a solid white line means you don't cross over it. You don't need something that is going to damage cars," said driver Kristi Morrell.

Despite multiple calls, Richland did not get back to us on their plans for the dividers. Drivers say they hope a more permanent solution is put in their place.
