Semi hits and kills pedestrian
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Officers are investigating a fatal crash after a semi hit, and killed, a pedestrian Tuesday evening on Columbia Drive near downtown Kennewick.
Police say that at 7:18 p.m., officers responded to multiple calls of a collision involving at least once vehicle and a pedestrian on the 1000 block of West Columbia Drive.
The pedestrian, 22-year-old Kelly Larry Elmer Estep, of Kennewick, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators suspect that Estep either stumbled or stepped into the roadway as the truck was passing.
Westbound lanes were shut down just east of State Route 395 around 7:30 p.m. The Kennewick Police Traffic Division conducted further investigation.
A coroner is performing a toxicology report and said no foul play is expected in this incident.
