Southbound Columbia Center Boulevard and the offramp from eastbound State Route 240 to Columbia Center was closed due to a semi-truck blocking traffic.
Washington State Patrol says the driver lost control on the offramp, causing the semi to roll into the southbound lanes of Columbia Center Boulevard. A vehicle traveling on Columbia Center then crashed into a trailer the semi had been towing.
Traffic is backing up on Highway 240 at the Edison Street exit as drivers are forced to detour. The closures are expected to last several hours.
Authorities say the driver of the semi, a 62-year-old Umatilla, Oregon, man, was taken to Kadlec Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was not hurt.
Meanwhile, a fire at a Richland condo closed the eastbound lanes of Gage Boulevard. The fire started around 11 a.m. at the Quailwood IV condominium complex.
The road was reopened several hours later.
