"Senior" dogs and cats improve the lives of their senior companions

Four legged friends have helped residents improve their mental and physical health.

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- It's no question that at Hawthorne Court senior living, a dog or cat is a senior citizen's best friend.

The center partnered today with the Benton-Franklin Humane Society to bring "senior" dogs and cats into the senior community and find a permanent match.

Organizers say these four legged friends have helped residents improve their mental and physical health. Older dogs and cats have a harder time getting adopted and this was the perfect opportunity for them to find homes.
