Police tell Action News the criminals are hot on the trail for Hondas from the 1990's.
They say locking up reduces the opportunity for thieves - but won't reduce the desire to break-in. Officials also recommend that you use bars on your steering wheels.
"A lot of these parts -- especially with the 90's Hondas are interchangeable between the other cars. The other thefts we're seeing are the joy-rider -- the guys and gals who are taking the cars because they want to ride," said Kennewick Police Officer Craig Hanson.
Kennewick Police are now partnering with the statewide Auto Theft Task Force to crack down on the higher-need cases.
