Southgate Elementary celebrates Dr. Seuss

Some good news this Friday - students across the Tri-Cities celebrated their love for learning - by ringing in Dr. Seuss' Birthday.

If the beloved author were still alive, he would be 109 today.
Southgate Elementary hosted a breakfast party to celebrate.
Local judges, Kennewick Police and members of the AMS read aloud to students. All promoting the love of reading.

"We're not just writing Mom and Dad tickets or you know - chasing after people. We do a lot of different things in the community. And reading is pretty much the basis for everything," said Kennewick Police Officer Michelle Pitts.

Miss Teen Tri-Cities and other middle school leaders also attended the event. The Southgate Parent Teacher Organization helped make it all happen.
