Steve Young stepping down as Kennewick Mayor
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- After nearly a decade of serving as Kennewick's Mayor, Steve Young tells KEPR Action News he is stepping down at the end of the year.
Young is the second longest serving Mayor in the history of the city.
In 2009, the City Council elected Young as the Mayor.
Young told KEPR about his decision at Tuesday night's City Council workshop meeting before making the declaration official in front of those who attended.
Tuesday night's meeting was the final council meeting of the calendar year.
City leaders tell Action News, the Kennewick City Council will nominate, and elect, a new mayor at its next meeting on January 2nd.
Two new city council members will also be sworn in during that meeting.
