Traffic delays expected throughout May west of Kennewick

BENTON COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS NEWS RELEASE -- Benton County will soon begin placing a bituminous surface treatment on County Roads. These will include County roads in the following area:

County Roads North and South of Reata Road including Reata, Bermuda Road East and West including Bermuda. Roads off of Rachel and Clover Road are not included in this work. Also, all roads South of I-82 including Clodfelter Road South to Tripple Vista, South to Locust Grove, West to Plymouth Road, East to Bofer Canyon Road and South to Coffin Road.

The Contractor, Granite Construction Company of Yakima, Washington, could begin the road resurfacing project as early as Tuesday, May 13, 2014.

From May 13 through May 30, or until these roads have been completed (approximately 4 weeks), residents should keep vehicles, trailers, boats and other objects off the shoulder of the affected roads between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. This is both for your safety and to keep delays to a minimum.

During the project, persons traveling in these areas should expect some traffic delays, reduced speeds, as well as fresh oil and loose gravel on the roadways. Please obey all speed limits and all flaggers. All dates and times are approximate and may be altered due to weather, equipment malfunction, or other factors beyond the control of the Benton County Public Works Department.

If you have questions or concerns, or to check the Contractor's progress, please contact the Benton County Public Works Department at 736-3084 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, and between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. We appreciate the public's cooperation and patience.
