Train sparks fire in Finley

FINLEY -- The long day of fighting fires stretched into the night.

Sparks from a train are to blame for starting a brush fire along Highway 397 in Finley.

Parts of the highway were closed as crews moved in to control multiple fires. Neighbors pitched in, trying to put out the flames by shoveling dirt.

The smoke got so bad, the state patrol was call in close down the road.

The worst of the fire was at a storage yard near the chemical plant on Reik Street.

Cole Picket says the firefighters told him they were just going to let it burn itself out.

There have been no reports to homes or injuries to anyone in the area. Crews planned to be out there all night to make sure no blazes crop up.
