Tri-Cities, Walla Walla recognized as Tree Cities

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and Walla Walla have each been recognized as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.

They join 80 other cities in Washington that have received the honor for 2014.

To be named a Tree City USA , a city must have a board or department responsible for trees, establish a tree ordinance, spend $2 per capita on tree care, and celebrate Arbor Day.

Walla Walla has been a Tree City USA for 20 years, while Richland has been for 16, Kennewick for 14, and Pasco for 7.
