Trios Health opens registration for summer day camp
TRIOS HEALTH NEWS RELEASE -- The Trios Foundation and Trios Diabetes Education Department has opened registration for a summer day camp for fifty children diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. In its third year, Camp Trios (formerly known as Camp KGH) is scheduled for July 23-25 from 9 am to 4:30 pm and is open to children ages 7 to 14 who have been diagnosed with the disease. The camp will be held at the Southridge Sports Complex in the mornings; camp participants will be transported to Tri-Cities Court Club for additional activities.
The goal of Camp Trios is to teach participants about their diagnoses and provide them tools for managing it in a way that doesn't limit their day-to-day life. Important features of the event include relationship building with peers in similar situations as well as close interaction with mentors and volunteers who can relate to their experiences and offer advice.
Among the activities planned for this year's Camp Trios include an exclusive pit tour at the boat races; a barbeque; photo booth; bounce house; and an afternoon at a local water park. Additionally, educational sessions and speakers are scheduled. The program also includes quarterly follow-up activities with participants to encourage pro-active diabetes management.
Mentorship positions are available for teens (ages 15-18) with Type 1 diabetes who wish to provide leadership, role modeling, and support to the younger campers as well as oversee camp activities.
For more information about camp or mentorship or to receive an applications contact Jenn Helms (509-585-5442 or Jen.email@example.com). Applications are due by June 2.

Camp Trios is supported by dozens of local philanthropists and generous businesses. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
