And that means the old emergency room on Auburn Street will close tomorrow at 7 am with the new emergency room in Southridge opening simultaneously. The current emergency room will transition into an urgent care facility. Patients were transferred across town from the Trios Women and Children's Hospital to the new location. Staff say this has been ten years in the making.
"Because we're privately financing this, it truly is a gift to the community and speaking on behalf of the physicians, providers, clinicians, this is huge and they can't wait to take care of patients," said Lisa Teske.
Emergency doors open at 7 am. Rescue workers are aware that patients will go to the Plaza Way site instead of Auburn Street.
