Fires spark in two garbage trucks since last week in Richland
RICHLAND, Wash. - Local leaders are asking for help after two different garbage trucks caught fire this week.
The fires were started by charcoal that hadn't been properly doused before being disposed.
No severe damage or injuries were reported when the fires ignited in the back of two trucks in Richland, but the potential for it to keep happening smolders on as people enjoy their summer.
Local fire inspectors want to remind you to add water to embers and ashes, and then stir until it forms a sludge.
Then let it sit for another hour before adding more water and disposing it in a non-combustible container like a coffee can.
