Two vehicle thefts reported within 8 minutes in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Kennewick police are warning residents about the dangers of leaving their vehicles running and unattended after two vehicles were stolen within 8 minutes of each other Monday morning.

The Kennewick Police Department says the thefts occurred in the 6800 block of West Kennewick Avenue and in the 7800 block of West Deschutes Avenue.

Officers say the crimes do not appear to be related, except for the fact that both vehicles' owners left them running with the keys inside.

The stolen vehicles were a silver 2004 Hyundai Sonata sedan with Washington license plate AHE1311 and a tan 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup with a temporary Washington tag.

Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to contact Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers.
