Viva Pasco! hopes to bring in money for city development

A new festival in Pasco hopes to bring in thousands of dollars for the local economy.

This is "Viva Pasco's" first year.

It features local bands, a car show and street dancing - as well as local food vendors and a margarita garden.

The event is timely because it is the Eve of Mexican Independence Day.

All the money from the event will be used to buy downtown lights at Christmas.

We just want to see the community come out and have a good time - pay attention to local businesses in downtown Pasco - enjoy the amazing good - hear the live music and really just celebrate as a community," said Downtown Pasco Development Director Amy Kutchler.

The event lasts until 9:30 Saturday. It's happening between 3rd and 5th Ave off of West Clark Street to West Columbia Street.
