Walla Walla police investigating shots fired

WALLA WALLA POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE -- Detectives are investigating a report of several shots being fired last night in the area of 1st Avenue and Chestnut Street. Several calls came in to 9-1-1 around 7:40 p.m., reporting 4-5 shots heard in the area and subjects running from the scene.

Investigating officers located several spent handgun cartridges, but no reports of injuries or property damage. There is no evidence to indicate this incident is gang related. Three subjects2 females and a male, were seen running from the area. Detectives do not know if they were the suspects or victims. A red 4-door sedan was also seen leaving the area shortly after the shots were fired.

This is the 9th report of "shots fired" since May 1st of this year, down from 13 similar reports last year during this same period.
