With a bullet still in his chest, Toby the German Shepherd returns home to recover
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- The one-year-old dog who was shot in the chest last Friday is back at home.
The German Shepherd returned to his Benton City home today after recovering at WSU's veterinary clinic.
The dog took a shot to the chest a week ago in his own kennel.
The bullet is actually still in Toby's chest.
Doctors decided not to go with surgery because opening the chest cavity is risky at this moment.
Surgery could still be an option down the road as he recovers.
Benton County police don't believe Toby's wound came from a firearm.
This case is still being investigated.
