WSU engineering students race go-karts in the name of science

WEST RICHLAND, Wash. - Wazzu students are taking their classroom knowledge and notes to the streets. More specifically, the Tri-City Raceway.

Dozens of engineering students tested their homemade go-carts today. Students designed and built these themselves. They had a competition around an obstacle course that included a water gun range. Students say that as much fun as this is, it is all in the name of science.

"You're applying everything you have been learning the past few years and it has really taken that many years to understand not only how to build something, but how to safely build it, how to economically build it," said engineering student Jarrett Rice.

Students say they spent the last six-weeks working 'round the clock preparing for race day. Their professor tells KEPR every student received an A.
