Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies have responded to the alleged "SHS" threat that has been making its rounds on social media, and they say it's not specific to any school district in our state.

Deputies say that yesterday, Feb. 21, the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and SUNCOM received multiple calls referencing a Facebook/Snap Chat posting making reference to a school shooting by a subject named “Ray Andres”.

Students and parents were concerned, due to the school initials listed in the posting as “SHS”.

Deputies now say that the posts originated from an old posting and were now being recirculated again.

The initials of “SHS” were not specific to any school district in Yakima, Benton or Franklin Counties or any other school district in Washington State.

Officials say that this post has been spread as far as Guam and was investigated at the time of its original posting.

The initial investigation could not find the original location of the post or “Ray Andres."

As a precaution local school districts with the initials of “SHS” and police departments were notified of the issue with the re-posting on social media, but again no specific threat or location was ever specified in the postings.
