Two pit bulls saved two young Florida children from a poisonous copperhead snake, WFLA reports.

Melissa Butt says her two pets leapt into action in her backyard, attacking the serpent inches away from her grandchildren.

Named Slayer and Paco, both pups suffered battle wounds to the face.

Butt bought them to a nearby animal hospital after the incident, where the pair arrived "in bad shape," WFLA reports.

However, after an administration of anti-venom, Paco is home and healed while Slayer is still at the vet but in good spirits.
