Career Day gives middle school students hands-on experience

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Some local kids are getting hands-on experience from local professionals.

Every Friday this month, students at Park Middle School in Kennewick are having Career Day. Job holders from all over town visit the students and answer questions about their profession. The kids learn what kind of experience they might need if that job interests them.

"They're asking the presenters what classes I take in high school, what can I do to prepare myself now, to volunteer, to get involved in my community to prepare myself for high school, college, and a career beyond that," says teacher Gina Burt.

Students heard from geologists, veterinarians, marking directors and business owners Friday. The program was started several years ago and is unique to Park Middle.
