Carousel of Dreams keeping splash pad closed

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Carousel of dreams is still not opened. KEPR learned the construction delays are now affecting a nearby splash park.

The Carousel was originally supposed to open last Christmas then got pushed back to May. Construction setbacks have forced the builders to keep the Southridge Splash Pad closed because of its proximity to the site.

Parents are upset that they have to take their kids to splash parks across town.

"We were excited about going there when we read about it in the paper and we had some friends coming up and we talked to them about it. I'm really disappointed. I think somebody should look into it, make a decision and get it done," says parent Michael Booker who took his kids to Columbia Park.

According to the city Facebook page, the Southridge Splash Pad is supposed to be open by mid summer. There's no exact date on when the carousel will be open, but officials are hoping to open by August.
