Construction of new Richland elementary school underway

RICHLAND, Wash. -- That extra room Richland needs is getting underway. The groundbreaking for the new Lewis and Clark Elementary was held Thursday.

The new school is being built just east of the current Lewis and Clark, at the corner of Jadwin and Downing. It's set to open in August of next year.

The old school will be torn down and a playground put in its place.

The $15 million project is being paid for with a bond passed by voters last year.
