Man going 72 mph in 40 mph zone charged with vehicular homicide

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Criminal charges have been filed in connection to the death of a pedestrian last month. Michael Johnson is now charged with vehicular homicide.

Police say Johnson was racing his son down West 27th Avenue in Kennewick. Officers determined he was going 72 mph in a 40 mph zone.

52-year old Nina Howard was jaywalking, but police say, if Johnson had been going the speed limit, Howard would have had time to get out of the way.
