54-year old Donald Kendall was killed during a chip seal paving operation in Eastern Oregon. Details of exactly what happened are not known just yet. Kendall was a transportation maintenance specialist 2. He worked for ODOT for more than 29 years, operating snowplows and graders and helping stranded citizens.
"The ODOT family lost one of our own today," said ODOT Deputy Director Paul Mather. "We all feel his loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his fellow workers."
On July 22, 2014 at approximately 1:15 p.m., OSP and Umatilla County Sheriff's Office were notified of an accidental death at a chip seal paving operation work site on Oregon Highway 320 near milepost 35. OSP troopers were on the scene Tuesday, and are the lead investigating agency.
Highway 320 was closed at the scene for the duration of the investigation. Oregon OSHA was also on scene.
