They say they are waiting to see how the state will work out the laws with the federal government. The planning commission also felt they weren't ready to move ahead with pot sales.
One resident did show up and vent her frustration about the moratorium, but the commission stood by their decision.
"I think there are processors and some growers that are ready, and they've studied and are ready and they feel that they are ready, but it can be a huge liability to this county if we don't do it right," said Commissioner Rick Miller.
The commission said they would vote to lift the moratorium before the six-month expiration if the state works out some of the issues with the federal government.
