Students meet their idols at Cavalcade of Authors

PASCO, Wash. -- Hundreds of student writers got their chance to learn from published authors today at CBC.

The 2014 Cavalcade of Authors brought in 16 authors from around the country. Students from a handful of Tri-Cities elementary and middle schools attended lectures, asked questions, and got their books signed.

In order to attend, students had to read at least seven books during this school year.

"I'm kind of a fast reader, so I got, like, a bunch done. We get to learn how they write, and it helps me write my stories that I want to get published," says seventh-grader Elyssa Simpkins.

The event was held campus-wide.
