Tri-City gyms are starting to open back up this week after Governor Jay Inslee announced updated guidance on indoor fitness facilities last Friday.
Action News got an inside look at a Pasco gym to show you what to expect when you return to your fitness center.
LifeQuest Fitness reopened on Monday and with the reopening came a handful of new safety precautions and guidelines.
"We are so excited to have our members back, it's so great to be in a building that has people and life again." Sarah Evans, assistant manager said.
Before entering the gym, members are required to get their temperature taken and to sign in.
LifeQuest staff also have signs up to remind members to social distance when exercising, sanitation stations are readily available and masks are encouraged in common areas.
"We have been asked to wear face masks in all common locations which means like hallways bathrooms when you're moving from one machine to the other but while you're working out and you're physically exerting yourself it is perfectly ok to take your mask off and then once you're ready to be done with that exercise put it right back on again." Evans said.
Staff tells Action News all of these safety precautions are to keep members and employees safe and as healthy as possible.
"Our cleaning staff is going around and always cleaning the machines but we also ask our members to take the sanitation into their own hands and we have sanitation bottles all over the gym." Evans said.
Club 24 gyms also opened on Monday, Planet Fitness opened on Tuesday and Gold's Gym in Kennewick and Richland will open Friday.
